RedZebra has worked with V-Day involved in the OBR campaign since 2012 assisting with the community musical engagement. Because of this collaboration, RedZebra received 40 complimentary tickets, making it possible for 2 of our youth groups to see the Emotional Creature play on 14 August 2014.
Thanks so much to V- Day and the Baxter Theatre!
Most of our youth had never been to a theatre or life show before. They absolutely loved it! Many of the girls could identify with one of the stories. It was also very special for them to talk to the actors afterwards. A few pics are up on our RedZebra FB Page.
We had a few debrief and discussion sessions about the content of Emotional Creature in safe spaces, which had many of our youth opening up. Some of our youth, who had been abused themselves said they drew a lot of strength from the stories. Some of the boys stated that they can better understand what people go through when they experience sexual violence and also after listening to Karabo, expressed that they will show more support for sexual diversity.
So thanks again to V- Day and the Baxter Theatre. You helped touch some young people’s hearts, which will inevitable have a positive impact on their future actions!
